Westlich der Brücke über den breiten Kuchefluss, wo die Herstanstraße beginnt, liegt der Altstadt-Platz. Heutzutage wird der Name selten erwähnt, nur der Busbahnhof hat ihn noch behalten.
Ursprünglich entstand der Altstadt-Platz rund um die dahinter liegende Moschee, wo die Einheimischen nach dem Gebet vor der Tür zusammenkamen und einkauften. Mit der Zeit wurde es zum Zentrum der Stadt.
Der nicht sehr große offene Bereich ist heute von Ständen gesäumt, an denen täglich Antiquitäten, Handwerkskunst und Volkskulturen verkauft werden. Unter den wenigen Ständen sticht einer mit verschiedensten Hüten und Wurzelschnitzereien hervor - an den Regalen und auf dem Tresen sind viele unterschiedliche Exemplare aufgehängt und ausgestellt.
Tipp: Man muss hier genau beobachten und sorgfältig suchen, um die Besonderheiten des Ortes zu entdecken.

Sobald man in die Altstadt kommt, reihen sich links und rechts die Naan-Bäckereien aneinander. Der Vormittag ist ihre beste Geschäftszeit. Als Hauptnahrungsmittel in Xinjiang ist Naan für die Menschen unverzichtbar, wie das Baguette für die Pariser.
Genau wie beim Baguette-Essen ist auch Naan am leckersten, wenn es täglich frisch gebacken wird. In dieser Straße weht dann der köstliche Geruch von frisch gebackenem Weizenbrot.
Anders als die meisten Läden, die nur Naan zum Mitnehmen verkaufen, ist die Kuerban Jang Naan-Bäckerei auch ein kleines Restaurant mit Sitzplätzen. Neben verschiedenen großen und kleinen Naan-Broten bietet es auch Handpilaf, Fleiesspieße und Nudeln an - einfaches, billiges, aber leckeres Essen.
Tipp: Der Handpilaf wird pünktlich um 12 Uhr serviert, es gibt nur einen großen Topf pro Tag, also nicht zu spät kommen.

Vom Altstadt-Platz bis zum Kucha-Palast, entlang der Herstanstraße, erstreckt sich das Gebiet der Altstadt von Kucha. Obwohl es das Herz der Stadt ist, ist es hier nicht so belebt wie anderswo in der Altstadt, es herrscht eine friedliche Atmosphäre.
Die drei Hauptattraktionen der Altstadt sind: Erstens die Türen - die unterschiedlichen Stile und Farben der verwitterten Holztüren an der Hauptstraße scheinen die Geschichte der Stadt widerzuspiegeln. Altstadt von Kuche - Kuche-Palast

Der vollständige Name des Kuche-Palastes lautet "Palast der erblichen Hui-Fürsten von Kuche". Mit fast 200 Jahren Geschichte wurde er über elf Generationen von Fürsten erweitert und vereint chinesische Han-Kultur, Merkmale der Uiguren in Xinjiang und russischen Baustil.
Der Kuche-Palast kann als Zwischenstation dienen, um die Schönheit der alten Stadt Qiuci zu genießen. Verlässt man ihn, betritt man die Herstanstraße und spürt, wie die Zeit langsamer vergeht. Die bunt verzierten Holztüren an den Seiten der Gassen und die alten Gebäude, die die Spuren der Zeit bewahren, laden zum Spazierengehen und Fotografieren bei Sonnenuntergang ein.
Kuche-Palast - Qiuci-Museum

Qiuci-Museum, eine umfassende Ausstellung der Vergangenheit von Qiuci.
Das heutige Gebiet von Kuche hieß einst Qiuci (Qiū Cí) und wurde in der Han-Dynastie gegründet. Es war eines der mächtigsten alten Königreiche Westchinas. Neben wirtschaftlichem Wohlstand entwickelten sich damals auch Kultur, Kunst und Religion hoch. Viele Kunstschätze mit hohem Wert sind bis heute erhalten geblieben.
Das Quizi-Museum befindet sich in einem Hof in der Nähe des ehemaligen Regierungssitzes des Kreises neben dem Kuche-Wangfu und umfasst eine Fläche von fast 10.000 Quadratmetern. Es besteht aus vier Ausstellungshallen für Ausgrabungen, Buddhismus, Folklore und antiken Münzen. Eine sorgfältige Betrachtung der zahlreichen Ausstellungsstücke im Museum ist der ideale Weg, um die Kultur und Geschichte von Guizi kennenzulernen.
Tipp: Das Highlight des Quizi-Museums ist eine junge Frauenleiche, die in der alten Stadt Subash im Vorort der Stadt gefunden wurde. Auf der Frauenleiche sind Bräuche verzeichnet, die im "Großen Tang-Reisebericht" dokumentiert sind.
Quizi-Museum - Linjilu-Märtyrergedenkstätte

Die Linjilu-Märtyrergedenkstätte ist ein revolutionärer heiliger Ort in Xinjiang. Linjilu war in den 1930er Jahren Bürgermeister des Kreises Kuche und wurde später von dem Kriegsherren Sheng Shicai verhaftet und ins Gefängnis geworfen. Im September 1943 wurde er zusammen mit Chen Tanqiu und Mao Zemin ermordet. Das ehemalige Amtshaus des Kreises Kuche vor der Befreiung war der Ort, an dem Linjilu arbeitete und lebte. Heute ist es ein Gedenkhaus, in dem die Menschen diesen Helden ehren.
Entlang der Außenmauer des Gedenkgebäudes sind Geschichten von Linjilus Arbeit und seinem heldenhaften Opfer veranschaulicht. Das Haus ist in einen Ausstellungsraum und einen Wohnbereich unterteilt. Im ersteren werden viele Arbeitsleistungen von Linjilu für Kuche wiederholt, wie z.B. die Wiederherstellung der Solidaritätsneuen Brücke, die er mit den Massen zur Überwindung von Wasserschwierigkeiten errichtet hat. Im letzteren werden kurze Geschichten aus dem Leben des Märtyrers aufgezeichnet.
Tipp: Neben dem Gedenkhaus ist auch das Gebäude selbst einen Besuch wert. Sie können auf einer Bank auf dem Korridor sitzen und die Gartenlandschaft im Innenhof genießen.
Linjilu-Märtyrergedenkstätte - Yakexim Restaurant

Das Yakexim Restaurant ist ein beliebtes Restaurant in der Stadt. "Yakexi" bedeutet "gut" auf Uigurisch und der Name des Restaurants ist wahrlich passend. Das gute Umfeld und die besonderen Köstlichkeiten machen es zu einem der beliebtesten Restaurants in Kuche.
Das Yakexim befindet sich im Altstadtviertel und ist im Stil der exotischen Region dekoriert. Zu den charakteristischen Gerichten gehören dreifarbige gebackene Teigtaschen, Schweinefleisch auf einem Gestell, Chili-Hühnchen und gebratenes Lamm in einem Ofen. Am Abend, wenn die ethnischen Gesangs- und Tanzvorführungen beginnen, ist es oft voll und die Atmosphäre ist sehr lebhaft.
Das Yakexim ist ein spezielles Restaurant für diejenigen, die ihre Ernährung verbessern möchten. Sie können Fleisch essen und sich dabei entspannen und die Vorstellung genießen. Um die Kucha-Naans kennenzulernen, ist ein Besuch des Großen Naan-Palasts in Kucha eine hervorragende Idee. Der 2013 erbaute Palast wurde 2021 nach einem Upgrade wiedereröffnet. Durch die riesige Naan-König-Statue am Eingang betritt man die beeindruckende Naan-Erlebnis-Halle.
Im Erdgeschoss gibt es Dutzende von Restaurantständen, wo man die lokalen Spezialitäten probieren kann. Noch interessanter ist jedoch der obere Stock: Hier gibt es eine stimmungsvolle alte Teestube und eine Naan-Backstube. Durch die Glasscheiben kann man den gesamten Prozess vom Teigkneten bis zum Backen des Naan verfolgen - über 30 Naan-Öfen sind hier in Betrieb und liefern ständig frische Leckereien.
Tipp: Am Wochenende vormittags und nachmittags gibt es Führungen mit interessanten Erläuterungen, außerdem kann man selbst Naan herstellen.
Kuche Großer Naan-Palast - Mūrānā Atshīdīn Mausoleum

Mūrānā Atshīdīn Mausoleum, eine religiöse Pilgerstätte in Kuche.
Der Ausdruck "Mazar" bedeutet auf Arabisch "Pilgerstätte" und bezeichnet islamische Grabstätten. Mazare von unterschiedlicher Größe und Bedeutung finden sich in Westchina, darunter ist das Mūrānā Atshīdīn Mausoleum das älteste in Kucha.
Laut Geschichtsaufzeichnungen wurde das Mūrānā Atshīdīn Mausoleum ursprünglich in der Ming-Dynastie erbaut und ist nach einem islamischen Heiligen und Ahnherren des Islams benannt. Es ist ein typisches islamisches Bauwerk mit Moschee, Grabtor, Grabkammern und Schrein. Unter der westlichen Schreinvorhalle befindet sich eine verwitterte Tafel mit der Inschrift "Heilige der Kaaba" aus der Guangxu-Ära der Qing-Dynastie.
Tipp: Gegenüber auf der anderen Straßenseite befindet sich die Jin-Du-Gartenresidenz mit vielen Restaurants, ein guter Ort für eine Mahlzeit nach dem Besuch.

Qiuci war einst eine wichtige Station an der Seidenstraße und besitzt eine sogar noch ältere Höhlenkunsttradition als Mogao in Dunhuang. Die Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves gelten bei zeitgenössischen Höhlenkunstexperten als "zweites Mogao".
Die Höhlen befinden sich südöstlich von Kizilsu-Stadt, etwa eine Stunde Autofahrt von Kucha entfernt. 236 Höhlen sind in die zum Fluss Muzat ausgerichteten Felswände geschlagen, davor überragt eine hohe Statue des Meisters Kumārajīva den Ort, der ihn seit Jahrhunderten überblickt.
Obwohl die Höhlen schon sehr alt sind, wurden die erhaltenen Wandmalereien kunstvoll restauriert. Die leuchtenden Farben und präzisen Linien erzählen eindrucksvoll religiöse Geschichten. Als eine der frühesten Höhlengruppen Chinas vereint Kizil perfekt den Stil des einstigen Königreichs Qiuci mit den importierten buddhistischen Merkmalen.
Tipp: Unterwegs gibt es kaum geeignete Restaurants, es empfiehlt sich daher, einen Naan als Proviant mitzunehmen.

Wenn man den Tortoise Oasis Ecological Park am Stadtrand von Kuqa betritt, kommt man aus dem Staunen nicht mehr heraus, als wäre man durch den Weltraum nach Jiangnan gereist.
Der Qiuzi Oasis Ecological Park ist mit einer Fläche von 820 Hektar der größte ökologische Landschaftspark in Xinjiang, in dem Gastronomie, Unterhaltung, Geschäfte und alle möglichen anderen Bedürfnisse befriedigt werden können.
Die zehn Meter hohe Riesenwurzel-Skulptur am Eingang des Ökoparks ist der Schatz des Hauses, und das hoch über dem Kopf hängende Naturkunstwerk löst ein besonderes Gefühl der Erschütterung aus. Jeder, der schon einmal in Kashgar war, wird von dem gelben Etiqaar außerhalb der Altstadt beeindruckt sein. Und in anderen Teilen Xinjiangs außerhalb Kashgars ist die Kuqa-Großmoschee das größte islamische Kloster.
Die Großmoschee von Kuqa wurde vor Jahrhunderten erbaut, als der Islam in Kucha eingeführt wurde. Der Lehmtempel wurde später umgebaut und restauriert, und der 18 Meter hohe Tempel, der heute in der Altstadt steht, ist ein Bau aus Ziegeln und Holz aus dem Jahr 1931.
Die größte Attraktion des Großen Tempels von Kucha ist das grüne Tor und die ebenfalls grün glasierte Kuppel, die an schönen Tagen im Sonnenlicht leuchten.
